The Mancos Town Board is expected to meet Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 7 p.m. in the meeting room of the Mancos Town Hall, 117 N. Main St.<\/p>\n
Board members are expected to appoint a new municipal court judge and a substitute judge.<\/p>\n
Four attorneys were interviewed for the position. The municipal court judge presides over monthly court. A flat fee of $250 is paid for this purpose per month.<\/p>\n
The board will consider the town\u2019s recommendation of James A. Shaner as judge and Michael Goldman as substitute.<\/p>\n
Shaner is a municipal court judge in Cortez and Dolores and has a law practice.<\/p>\n
The previous Mancos municipal court judge, Scott Moore, resigned on Dec. 30 when a jury trial was looming for pollution charges against Western Excelsior. Moore said he didn\u2019t have time to preside over a days-long jury trial.<\/p>\n
The board is also expected to consider appointing John Bolton to a vacant position on the Planning and Zoning Commission. Bolton is a Mancos resident and a contractor and homebuilder.<\/p>\n
Board members are also expected to discuss flooring options for the Mancos Community Center.<\/p>\n
The current floor in the Community Center is scuffed, buckling and \u201cposes tripping hazards,\u201d according to Town Administrator Andrea Phillips.<\/p>\n
Estimates to remove and replace the floor range from $4,255 to $12,837.<\/p>\n
Board members also will consider the transfer of the liquor license of Chavolo\u2019s Mexican Restaurant.<\/p>\n
The restaurant ownership is being transferred from Edgar Ortiz to his brother, Chavolo Ortiz, and must be approved by the board.<\/p>\n
Board members will consider a grant opportunity for a downtown consultant and will consider accepting a Colorado Tree Coalition grant.<\/p>\n
