Students and community members lined the streets with their favorite books and watched a parade in honor of Dr. Seuss\u2019 birthday.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a great kickoff,\u201d said Mancos Elementary Principal Cathy Epps.<\/p>\n
Students marched in the parade, there was a band, Thing 1 and Thing 2 and lots and lots of books.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll the kids came out on Grand Avenue with their books,\u201d Epps said.<\/p>\n
The parade was a surprise for the students and the community.<\/p>\n
The parade was a kickoff for a whole day of reading. Students spent most of the day curled up with books and in the evening over 100 participated in the snuggle up and read event.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll day was all centered around reading and writing and Dr. Seuss\u2019 birthday,\u201d Epps said.<\/p>\n
Community members and the library participated in parade, in addition to the Fire Department and Will Stone and his steer Crash.<\/p>\n
