These retailers compete in a variety of areas that reveal their business health and how they impact their local communities. The Revolutionary 100 is open to all local garden centers, large and small.<\/p>\n

\u201cEach year this competition pushes us to continue to be innovative and creative with our products and marketing in order to improve and remain on the list.\u201d<\/p>\n
Garden center owners and managers across the U.S. fill out an extensive online questionnaire covering topics such as customer and community service, management philosophy, marketing, use of technology, purchasing and profitability.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis year we were included because of our involvement in the local food movement, which is huge right now,\u201d said Vanik. \u201cPart of that was our involvement in our Winter Farmer\u2019s Market and also in getting the Southwest Farm Fresh co-operative started.\u201d<\/p>\n
