{"id":113878,"date":"2015-03-17T12:14:59","date_gmt":"2015-03-17T18:14:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/retail-pot-shop-okd\/"},"modified":"2015-03-17T12:14:59","modified_gmt":"2015-03-17T18:14:59","slug":"retail-pot-shop-okd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/retail-pot-shop-okd\/","title":{"rendered":"Retail pot shop OK&#8217;d"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Mancos Town Board voted Wednesday, March 11, to allow a second retail marijuana shop to open in Mancos.<\/p>\n<p>The Bud Farm, which currently operates as a medical marijuana shop, earned the go-ahead by the board to also operate as a retail marijuana shop with a 3-1 vote in favor. Trustees Matthew Baskin and Todd Kearns were absent.<\/p>\n<p>Only trustee Michele Black voted against the retail license.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not anything personal, I\u2019m just voting \u2018no\u2019 to give those that disagree a voice,\u201d she said. \u201cBecause not everyone agrees (with legalized marijuana).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The first retail marijuana shop opened in Mancos in December 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Board members approved the second retail shop, pending final approval from the state.<\/p>\n<p>Jim Cody, owner of The Bud Farm, said it will be a few weeks before the shop is ready for business.<\/p>\n<p>Board members also approved a new flooring option for the Mancos Community Center.<\/p>\n<p>After debating vinyl flooring, laminate flooring and hard wood floors, the board voted 4-0 for the laminate floor and the high-traffic carpet.<\/p>\n<p>However, trustee Queenie Barz was concerned that the laminate floor may show water damage.<\/p>\n<p>Hardwood floors were ruled out because of a concrete sub floor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet\u2019s get the floor fixed,\u201d said trustee James Maestas.<\/p>\n<p>Board members also voted to de-criminalize land-use code violations.<\/p>\n<p>The change in the land-use code required a public hearing, no one spoke at the public hearing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis turns every infraction into a civil infraction, rather than a criminal one,\u201d said Mayor Rachael Simbeck. \u201cI think it will be better and go a little bit smoother.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Christie Williams told the board that she was willing to offer free weekly mental health clinics in town.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe mental health system is so hard to access,\u201d Williams said. \u201cOur county has the highest rate of suicide, and Colorado also has one of the highest rates as a country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Williams, a licensed social worker, said she hopes that providing a place for people to talk with her once a week will help others.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not sure what the needs will be,\u201d Williams said. \u201cIt\u2019s somewhere people can come when they are having a hard time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The board agreed to allow Williams to offer the service, likely in the community center.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt may be slow at first, but don\u2019t give up,\u201d Barz said.<\/p>\n<p>She will likely start offering the service in mid-April, on Mondays or Fridays.<\/p>\n<p>Board members also gave the go-ahead for a company to come in and inspect the town\u2019s water lines for leaks at a cost not to exceed $7,500.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>OKs flooring for town center<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[6371],"tags":[13],"naviga_topic":[],"class_list":["post-113878","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-mt-news","tag-frontpage-lead"],"acf":[],"author_name":"dh_admin","_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/113878","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=113878"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/113878\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=113878"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=113878"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=113878"},{"taxonomy":"naviga_topic","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/naviga_topic?post=113878"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
