\u201cI want Dave to go to prison for 49 years.\u201d<\/p>\n

A family friend of the victim read the 10-word letter in court as David Adcock, 45, of Cortez, appeared for sentencing on March 19. Charged with two felony counts of child sexual assault, Adcock was sentenced in a plea deal to 4 years at the Mesa County Criminal Justice Services Department. He was credited with 233 days served.<\/p>\n

District Court Judge Todd Plewe said Adcock\u2019s version of events on the night in question were not believeable and he admonished Adcock for manipulating the victim, her family, a psychologist and probation officials.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not normal for a 10-year-old girl to sleep in your bed,\u201d Plewe told Adcock. \u201cIt\u2019s disturbing, and it\u2019s my job as a judge to stop this.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reading from a multiple-page written statement, the mother of the victim explained that Adcock was a close family friend, and it was routine for her daughter to spend the night at Adcock\u2019s N. Washington Street home.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was chilled to the bone,\u201d the mother said upon learning of the molestation.<\/p>\n

She added that the plea deal made her \u201cvery angry,\u201d and that<\/p>\n

Fearing that Adcock wouldn\u2019t suffer as much as her daughter had.<\/p>\n

\u201c(Victim) will live her life in prison, because of what David has done to her,\u201d she said crying.<\/p>\n

Assistant District Attorney Sean Murray argued that Adcock wouldn\u2019t have received proper rehabilitative treatment if sent to prison. He also said the decision was based on the community\u2019s long-term safety.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
