A new report says 46 percent of all online job listings in Colorado are seeking college graduates, and they\u2019re more specific about the types of degrees required.<\/span><span class=\"credit\">Lricewiki Wikimedia Commons\/Courtesy photo<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>DENVER \u2013 Colorado has the fourth-best online labor market in the nation for college graduates, according to a new report from Georgetown University\u2019s Center on Education and the Workforce.<\/p>\n<p>Using job ads posted online, the report ranks states by the number of jobs per college-educated worker overall, and within specific career fields.<\/p>\n<p>Tony Carnevale, the center\u2019s director and the report\u2019s lead author, says the large number of STEM-related job listings \u2013 science, technology, engineering and math \u2013 mean degrees in these areas are assets for job seekers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe STEM jobs are very powerfully represented, as are jobs in business, education jobs, health care jobs \u2013 are the four categories that tend to dominate the employer job ads,\u201d he said. \u201cThis is data from the horse\u2019s mouth \u2013 this is the employers telling us what they\u2019re looking for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The report says 60 to 70 percent of all job openings are advertised online. The top occupations advertised in Colorado are for registered nurses, software and app developers and other computer-related positions.<\/p>\n<p>Carnevale added that jobs posted online may be disproportionately aimed at college graduates because they\u2019re more likely to own personal computers and have access to the Internet at home.
