{"id":113180,"date":"2015-04-15T16:58:29","date_gmt":"2015-04-15T22:58:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/dolores-track-teams-stay-busy\/"},"modified":"2015-04-15T16:58:29","modified_gmt":"2015-04-15T22:58:29","slug":"dolores-track-teams-stay-busy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/dolores-track-teams-stay-busy\/","title":{"rendered":"Dolores track teams stay busy"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>With the conclusion of its regular season quickly approaching, the Dolores High School track teams competed twice in four days in hopes of boosting their conditioning heading into the postseason.<\/p>\n<p>Girls earn several wins<\/p>\n<p>Competing at the Abel Velasquez Invitational in Ignacio on April 11, the Dolores High School girls\u2019 team finished third in a seven-team field.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOverall, the team did well, but the problem was that we had prom,\u201d said head coach Nick Kohler. \u201cWe had a full contingency of athletes in the morning, but most of our team left early.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Among the individual event winners for the Lady Bears were Larissa Umberger, who finished first in the 100-meter hurdles (18.35); Taylor Elder, who placed first in the long jump (16 feet, 2 inches); and Jessica Schleisser, who finished 1st in the discus (93 feet, 6 inches).<\/p>\n<p>Other top-five finishes for Dolores included Olivia Wright\u2019s third-place finish in the 100-meter dash (14.03); Teegan Hite\u2019s third-place finish in the 1600-meter run (6:12.56); Elder\u2019s second- place finish in the triple jump (30 feet, 7 inches); and Schleisser\u2019s fourth- place finish in the shot put (24 feet, 10 inches).<\/p>\n<p>Returning to the track for the Ron Keller Invitational in Bayfield on April 14, Dolores fought cold conditions and finished in the bottom quarter of the field.<\/p>\n<p>Wright led the way for the Lady Bears with a first-place finish in the 100-meter dash (14.00).  Hite finished second in the 3200-meter run (13:34.91); Umberger placed third in the 100-meter hurdles (17.49), Elder placed third in the long jump (15 feet, 11\u00be inches); and Sierra Schwartz, fourth in the 300-meter hurdles (55.50).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had six ineligible kids, and two kids were sick, so we didn\u2019t have our full roster,\u201d Kohler said.<\/p>\n<p>Ford leads boys team<\/p>\n<p>Hitting the track at the Abel Velasquez Invitational, Dolores placed sixth as a team, and Mikeal Ford finished first  in the 100-meter dash (11.67).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMikeal ran a good time, and it\u2019s a good facility,\u201d said Kohler. \u201cHe\u2019s setting himself up to be on the podium at state. He is progressing well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Also cracking the top five were Brandon Donaldson, who finished third in the triple jump (37 feet, 3\u00be inches) and fourth in the 100-meter dash (12.40); Tristan Medina, fourth in the 300-meter hurdles (44.94); and Trevor Robinson, fifth in the 100-meter dash (12.46).<\/p>\n<p>At the Ron Keller Invitational, Ford placed third in the 100-meter dash (11.84); and the Bears 4\u00d7100 relay team \u2013 Donaldson, Ford, Rylan Huff and Trevor Robinson \u2013 also placed third (44.60).<\/p>\n<p>Next up for the Dolores track teams will be the Bayfield Invitational, in Bayfield on April 18.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt this point in the season, we want to keep everybody healthy,\u201d Kohler said. \u201cWe have five track meets in a two-week period, and these meets are important to us.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>compete twice in four days<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[6362],"tags":[188],"naviga_topic":[],"class_list":["post-113180","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-ds-sports","tag-dolores-star"],"acf":[],"author_name":"dh_admin","_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/113180","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=113180"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/113180\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=113180"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=113180"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=113180"},{"taxonomy":"naviga_topic","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/naviga_topic?post=113180"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
