About 75 people gathered in Mancos Saturday, all with the future of Mancos economics on their mind for the 2015 Mancos Valley Summit.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had some really great conversations,\u201d said Mancos Town Administrator Andrea Phillips.<\/p>\n
Realtors, bankers, the agriculture community, the creative arts community, local business owners and Mesa Verde National Park officials, all collaborated for the day-long summit.<\/p>\n
Some of the ideas<\/p>\n
Improving the U.S. 160 Corridor to make it more attractive with landscaping, signage, and art.<\/p>\n
Creating a \u201cMancos made\u201d label for locally grown food products and other items made in the valley.<\/p>\n
Working with the local agriculture industry to support small farmers and working on agriculture tourism such as tours of farms.<\/p>\n
Creating an Economic Development committee to further the ideas that have been discussed.<\/p>\n
Promoting the community by doing a tourism\/info kiosk at businesses on the highway, creating an \u201cambassador\u201d program, and creating a map of town businesses and farms in the valley.<\/p>\n
Working with Mesa Verde National Park to do more cross promotion.<\/p>\n
Making the farmers market bigger and better.<\/p>\n
