Prior to this week, the Dolores High School golf team had never won a tournament over the course of its three-year history.<\/p>\n
All that changed on April 20 however, when the Lady Bears finished at the top of a six-team field at Hillcrest Golf Club in Durango.<\/p>\n
Kiselya Plewe finished 1st overall in the tournament with a score of 83, Keyana Matteson shot a 116 and Abigail Smith fired a round of 120.<\/p>\n
\u201cSince I\u2019ve been on the team, we haven\u2019t gotten a team win,\u201d said Smith. \u201cIt was really awesome to be a part of that.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Lady Bears followed up their top finish with a 3rd-place finish in a six-team tournament at Conquistador Golf Course in Cortez on April 21.<\/p>\n
Plewe finished 1st in the tournament with a score of 77, Matteson shot a 104, Abigail Smith fired a 110 and Harley Valdez shot a 128.<\/p>\n
\u201cI managed to piece together a decent round,\u201d said Plewe. \u201cI wasn\u2019t striking the ball well and I wasn\u2019t putting at the start, but I played better as conditions grew worse.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
