After competing in five meets over the past two weeks, members of the Dolores High School boys and girls track teams are ready to rest.<\/p>\n
The teams\u2019 latest performance came at the B&B Invitational in Aztec, April 25-26, and according to head coach Nick Kohler, the effects of fatigue showed.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe times that we ran were pretty good, but at big meet like the (B&B Invitational), we would have to PR just to place,\u201d Kohler said. \u201cWe didn\u2019t run in several relays and we just tried to recuperate after five meets in two weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n
Among the top placers for the Dolores boys team were Mikeal Ford, who finished sixth in the 100-meter dash (11.79), and Branden Donaldson, who placed seventh in the triple jump (37 feet, 8\u00bd inches).<\/p>\n
Also cracking the top 20 on the boys side were Tristan Medina, who raced to a 13th-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles (44.89), and Ruben Gomez, who finished 20th in the long jump (16 feet, 11\u00be inches).<\/p>\n
The Bears 4\u00d7100-meter relay team made up Trevor Robinson, Donaldson, Ford and Gomez finished seventh (46.39), as did the Bears 4\u00d7200-meter relay made up of Guy Wallace, Robinson, Ford and Wallace.<\/p>\n
On the girls side, Dolores was led by Jessica Schleisser, who finished 11th in the discus (90 feet, 11 inches).<\/p>\n
Taylor Elder finished 11th in the triple jump (30 feet, 2 inches); Kelly Charles placed 14th in the 400 (1:07.23); and Larissa Umberger finished 19th in the long jump (13 feet, 7\u00bd inches).<\/p>\n
Other top 20 finishers for the Lady Bears included Sierra Schwartz, who finished 12th in the 300-meter hurdles (28.98) and 18th in the 100-meter hurdles (18.98); and Olivia Wright, who placed 15th in the 200-meter dash (28.55) and crossed the line 18th in the 100-meter dash (14.16).<\/p>\n
Next up for the Dolores track teams will be the Terry Alley Invitational, which will take place in Pagosa Springs on May 2.<\/p>\n
