On April 18, MVR, in partnership with the Town of Mancos and the Mancos Valley Chamber of Commerce hosted the Mancos Valley Summit: Economic and Community Movement. Business owners, community organizations, and residents came together to educate each other, increase collaboration, and to develop calls to action that will benefit the evolving future of Mancos. The event was a resounding success, highlighting what Mancos has to offer, the challenges we face, and a deeper appreciation for our fellow Mancos residents. Our sponsored projects have been more active than ever, with the Pay it Forward Fund receiving almost $7,000 raised at the 2015 Mancos Follies, allowing them to continue providing financial assistance to Mancos Valley residents dealing with unexpected medical emergencies and situations. The Montezuma School to Farm Project\u2019s 3rd Annual Spring Hoedown was a HUGE success, raising $9,000 to expand their programming throughout Montezuma County. In 2014, MSTFP grew over 4,000 pounds of produce, delivered educational programs to over 2,000 students and logged over 12,000 student educational hours!<\/p>\n

In October the Painted Turtle Studio & Community Art Center moved to a new location at 200 W. Grand Ave. After a successful opening event, they\u2019ve been delivering a colorful array of classes to both children and adults. The Paint-Your-Own Ceramics studio is a big hit, and the Clay Co-op and pottery classes have seen substantial turnouts. Learn more about PTS at www.paintedturtlestudio.org.<\/p>\n

One of our newest projects, Mancos School of the West, hit the ground running in 2015 with a series of successful classes and workshops taught by incredibly talented local artists, such as Veryl Goodnight, Jan Wright, Steve Williams and many others. Mancos School of the West offers studio instruction in and around historic downtown and the Mancos Valley. Learn more about their upcoming classes at www.schoolofthewest.org.<\/p>\n
