What?<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no seasonal stout category,\u201d confirmed Colorado Brewers Guild spokesperson Steve Kurowski.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s widely known that craft beer aficionados aren\u2019t shy when it comes to tantalizing their taste buds, but a summer cream stout? That\u2019s mindboggling.<\/p>\n

But it\u2019s also true.<\/p>\n

Ska Brewing Co. in Durango offers a palate adventure like no other when they re-release their Estival Cream Stout on Sunday, June 21.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re the only ones doing that,\u201d said Kurowski of the summer cream stout category.<\/p>\n

A third-year offering, Ska officials describe their pioneering summer cream stout \u2013 with hints of citrus orange peel and honey \u2013 as refreshing and satisfying.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome people don\u2019t think a summer stout makes sense, but we haven\u2019t gotten to where we are by just doing what makes sense,\u201d said Ska co-founder Bill Graham. \u201cSometimes you have to be under the curve to be ahead of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, Ska co-founder and president Dave Thibodeau added the company was always looking for market expansion.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhere is there more room for growth than in the summer seasonal stout category?\u201d he posed. \u201cNowhere.\u201d<\/p>\n

Packaged in black, 12-oz. cans with Ska\u2019s Pinstripe character emerging from a fiery sun, the Estival Cream Stout weighs in at 5.8 percent alcohol by volume.<\/p>\n

The 2015 version is tapped at Ska\u2019s world headquarters in Durango on Sunday starting at 1 p.m. The event features Father\u2019s Day specials, live music from Afrobeatniks, lawn games and food pairings.<\/p>\n
