{"id":109878,"date":"2015-09-01T17:36:49","date_gmt":"2015-09-01T23:36:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/cross-country-blue-jays-take-4th\/"},"modified":"2015-09-01T17:36:49","modified_gmt":"2015-09-01T23:36:49","slug":"cross-country-blue-jays-take-4th","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/cross-country-blue-jays-take-4th\/","title":{"rendered":"Cross country: Blue Jays take 4th"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Mancos cross country teams traveled to Colorado Springs on Friday for the Cheyenne Mountain Stampede.<\/p>\n<p>The Blue Jays runners got a taste of the course that will later hold the state championships, and both the boys and girls teams found success.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis meet is always tough, as it attracts some of the best teams in the state,\u201d said head coach Brady Archer. \u201cAnd it\u2019s the first chance to see how everyone is running. We had some good races. Two of our varsity girls have never run cross country before, and they finished 13th and 20th.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Leading the girls was junior Emma Most, who finished 11th with a time of 24:51. She was followed by Brittney Peacock in 14th place (25:11) and Kaylee Rose in 20th (26:25). Hannah Skinner rounded out the varsity at 23rd with a time of 28:00.<\/p>\n<p>In the team standings, the girls finished fourth, just two points behind eighth-ranked Peyton.<\/p>\n<p>Ro Paschal was the first Blue Jay to finish among the boys,  and his 17:25 time was good enough for third place overall.<\/p>\n<p>He was followed by Simon Kearns in eighth place (18:27), Jake McKie in 24th (19:42), Asa Kearns in 29th (20:54), Caleb Yoder in 32nd (21:16), Nic Arhuleta finished in 36th (21:27), Zane Goodell in 42nd (21:53) and Vincent Grego in 45th (22:12).<\/p>\n<p>The boys also finished in fourth place as a team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of our runners on the boys side got pretty sick on the course,\u201d Archer said. \u201cHowever, the runners behind him really stepped up and kept us close to the top teams.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With their first meet in the books, the Blue Jays are now focused on their next meet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI always feel like this is just a starting point for us,\u201d said Archer. \u201cBoth teams will grow from here as the season moves along.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Next, Mancos will travel to Monticello on Wednesday, Sept. 2 for the Lloyd\u2019s Lake Classic.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>girls place fourth at pre-state<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[6313],"tags":[83],"naviga_topic":[],"class_list":["post-109878","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-sports-2","tag-mancos"],"acf":[],"author_name":"dh_admin","_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/109878","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=109878"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/109878\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=109878"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=109878"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=109878"},{"taxonomy":"naviga_topic","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/naviga_topic?post=109878"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
