{"id":109488,"date":"2015-09-16T19:13:41","date_gmt":"2015-09-17T01:13:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/harriers-compete-in-sunset-classic\/"},"modified":"2015-09-16T19:13:41","modified_gmt":"2015-09-17T01:13:41","slug":"harriers-compete-in-sunset-classic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/harriers-compete-in-sunset-classic\/","title":{"rendered":"Harriers compete in Sunset Classic"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Dolores cross-country teams found themselves running at night last Friday at the Southwest Sunset Classic in Durango.<\/p>\n<p>While the middle school race took place first with the sun still up, varsity teams ran in the dark with the course lighted by glow sticks.<\/p>\n<p>Head coach Nick Kohler said the weather was perfect for a night meet and that the races were a lot of fun.<\/p>\n<p>Teegan Hite finished 27th with a time of 23:14, and Kohler said that in a meet with larger schools, only one 2A runner completed the race quicker than Hite.<\/p>\n<p>As for the boys, Brennan Hite led the team with a 32nd place finish (19:39), with Phillip Hufman in 37th (21:57) and Cael McHenry in 51st (21:57).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were short-handed due to sickness and prior travel plans, but I was pleased nonetheless,\u201d Kohler said. \u201cThe competition at this race was as good as we will see for the year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The middle school runners hit the course earlier in the afternoon, with 135 runners competing.<\/p>\n<p>Tyler Cutrone led Dolores with a 18th-place finish (12:18), Tim Wyman finished 38th (13:13), and Xander Eichner placed 68th (14:06).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOverall I was happy,\u201d Kohler said. \u201cThe runners are learning about position at the start of a race and how important it is for them to get out quick or they find themselves blocked in with runners who may run a slower pace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Bears\u2019 next race is the Ramble at the Reservoir at Ridgway State Park on Friday, Sept. 18.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Durango hosts night cross-country run<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[6362],"tags":[44,188],"naviga_topic":[],"class_list":["post-109488","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-ds-sports","tag-dolores","tag-dolores-star"],"acf":[],"author_name":"dh_admin","_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/109488","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=109488"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/109488\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=109488"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=109488"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=109488"},{"taxonomy":"naviga_topic","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/naviga_topic?post=109488"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
