After a week off because of a Del Norte forfeit, the Dove Creek Bulldogs (5-1) didn\u2019t scheme for the Sanford Indians (2-5), whom they host on Friday for Parents Night.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe didn\u2019t focus on any particular team or tendency,\u201d said head coach Shane Baughman. \u201cWe just focus on what we do. We focused on doing our stuff and getting better at our individual positions.\u201d<\/p>\n
To prepare, the Bulldogs stressed fundamentals like tackling, catching and blocking, but also emphasized creating turnovers defensively.<\/p>\n
Dove Creek is ranked No. 7 in the state, and next week the Bulldogs host No. 4 Sargent.<\/p>\n
As if the matchup weren\u2019t significant enough, it\u2019s also the Bulldogs\u2019 Homecoming game.<\/p>\n
But for now, Baughman is keeping his team focused on Sanford.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe talked about it all last week and again this week,\u201d he said. \u201cTo not look ahead, because as soon as you do that, a team will sneak up on you.\u201d<\/p>\n
