For those under the legal drinking age, the Mancos Public Library is getting local kids in the spirit with mask-making, face painting, \u201cfreakish mystery boxes\u201d and homemade chili.<\/p>\n<p>The Mancos Lions Club is also hosting a family-friendly Halloween Party at the Community Center, featuring food, games and a silent auction from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Hospice preparing pancake supper<\/p>\n<p>In non-Halloween related news, Hospice of Montezuma is gearing up for its annual Pancake Supper benefit on Nov. 6. Aside from the all-you-can eat pancakes, bacon and eggs, the main draw is the quilt quction. Talented ladies at Dolores Mountain Quilt Guild made a special \u201cmystery quilt\u201d from quilt squares and scraps donated by the family of the late Kay Paquin-Sanders. Dolores Mountain Quilt Guild, in turn, donated the completed \u201cmystery quilt\u201d to Hospice of Montezuma to raffle off at the pancake benefit. Tickets for the event, which will be held at the Cortez Community Annex, are available by calling hospice at 970-575-4400 or online at hospicemontezuma.com. Prices are $3.50 for children, $7.50 for adults, and $20 for families.<\/p>\n<p>Lions Club hosts open house<\/p>\n<p>On Nov. 7, the Lions Club is hosting an open house at the Community Center as part of its\u2019 Lions International Peace Poster contest. The contest has students ages 11 to 13 drawing up their visions of peace. Mancos art teacher Kim Russell is coordinating at the school\u2019s participation in the contest, the result of which, will be displayed at the aforementioned open house in the Visitor\u2019s Center community gallery.<\/p>\n<p>Library presents \u2018Autism in Love\u2019<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, Nov. 1, at 6 p.m., Mancos Public Library presents a free screening of the documentary film \u201cAutism In Love.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In \u201cAutism in Love,\u201d four adults open up their personal lives as they navigate dating and romantic relationships. Eye-opening, first-person portrayals show that despite many challenges faced by those with autism, love can find a way. Through these stories, we see that autism isn\u2019t a one-size-fits-all disorder, and just like neurotypical people (those without developmental disabilities), those on the spectrum also experience the complexity, heartache, and joy that all come when making a romantic connection.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAutism in Love\u201d was called \u201caffectionate but clear-eyed\u201d by The Hollywood Reporter.
