He was one of the big leaders on the team and a huge threat offensively we were without.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Senior Josh McCoy filled in as the lead back in Donaldson\u2019s absence, finishing the year with 525 yards.<\/p>\n<p>But on Friday, Donaldson was able to return for his final game in a Dolores uniform.<\/p>\n<p>The senior had 11 carries for 91 yards rushing and caught three passes for 27 yards.<\/p>\n<p>Highlighting the Bears\u2019 defense for the season was freshman Forrest Pejsa.<\/p>\n<p>Pejsa ended the year with a league-leading 119 total tackles, good for third overall in Class 1A.<\/p>\n<p>The Bears will lose eight seniors to graduation in Donaldson, Balderrama, McCoy, Andrew Davis, Kyle Biery, Tristan Boren, Trevor Robinson and Tommy Nelligan.<\/p>\n<p>But they will return a handful of experienced players.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re going to return seven or eight starters on both sides of the ball next year,\u201d Trusler said. \u201cAnd these younger kids that came in and played this year are going to have a lot of game experience going into next year.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Balderrama, Medina and Pejsa lead conference<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":108417,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[5770],"tags":[44],"naviga_topic":[],"class_list":["post-108416","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-high-school-sports","tag-dolores"],"acf":[],"author_name":"dh_admin","_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/108416","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=108416"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/108416\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/108417"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=108416"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=108416"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=108416"},{"taxonomy":"naviga_topic","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/naviga_topic?post=108416"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
