Members of the Mancos cross-country team traveled to Casa Grande, Arizona last weekend to take part in the first ever Small School Race in the Nike Cross Regional Southwest competition.<\/p>\n

Senior Ro Paschal led the Blue Jays with a time of 16 minutes and 18 seconds, good for a sixth place finish. He was followed by Simon Kearns in 61st (17:28).<\/p>\n

Jake McKie (18:24), Adrian Hernandez (18:36) and Asa Kearns (18:39) finished in a bunch, crossing the line in 103rd, 107th and 110th place. Teslin Stecher (19:20) rounded out the team in 136th.<\/p>\n

The boys finished 9th as a team against teams from Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Colorado.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe conditions were great and the course was pretty fast,\u201d coach Brady Archer said in an e-mail after the race. \u201cWe had Adrian Hernandez step in and practice for a couple of weeks after the football season and then come run with the other guys.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cUnfortunately, some of the guys have been battling some illness that robbed them of some of their conditioning,\u201d he continued. \u201cThat being said, they ran really well. It was great to go down and be a part of such an incredible event.\u201d<\/p>\n

Corbin All-American<\/p>\n

Kelsey Corbin, 2011 Mancos High School graduate, is now an All-American. Competing in track and cross country at Adams State University for the previous four years, Corbin had her best season yet this fall.<\/p>\n

After being named to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference\u2019s First-Team last month, Corbin and the Grizzlies\u2019 women\u2019s cross country team captured the NCAA Division II national title on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Corbin finished 33rd in the 6K race with a time of 21:16.7.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur senior, Kelsey Corbin had been hurt on and off throughout her career and never made it to nationals until this year,\u201d Grizzlies\u2019 head coach Damon Martin said in a release. \u201cFor her to run as big as she did and garner All-American status was a big story.\u201d<\/p>\n

Candelaria all-conference<\/p>\n

The Colorado School of Mines Orediggers finished the 2015 season with an 8-3 record and led the league in a host of categories.<\/p>\n

But it wouldn\u2019t have been possible without the offensive line.<\/p>\n

Mines allowed only 1.27 sacks per game, ranking top 30 in the nation, and ranked fourth in the nation in tackles-for-loss allowed at 3.73 per game.<\/p>\n

With the protection of the O-line, the Orediggers passing game was prolific, finishing as the nation\u2019s #1 passing offense in NCAA Div II, with 365.3 yards per game.<\/p>\n

All five of the Orediggers starting offensive linemen earned Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference honors, including right guard Stephen Candelaria,<\/p>\n

Candelaria, a 2012 Montezuma-Cortez graduate, received RMAC honorable mention honors for his play at right guard.<\/p>\n

In his redshirt-junior year at Mines, Candelaria is majoring in Mining Engineering.<\/p>\n
