The M-CHS Panthers traveled to Grand Junction on Saturday for the Colorado Mesa University Duals, competing in duals against Cedaredge (L, 45-21), Olathe (L, 52-27), Rangely (W, 46-18), Meeker (L, 57-18) and Paonia (L, 63-9).<\/p>\n

Freshman Stevie Fuentes was the lone Panther to go undefeated on the day, finishing with a 5-0 record in matches in the 106 and 113-pound weight classes.<\/p>\n

Jared Gray, Victor Perez and Josh Ramos were the other Panther wrestlers with winning records.<\/p>\n

Gray and Perez finished at 3-2, and Ramos was 4-1 on the day.<\/p>\n

Matthew Broughton (2-3), Colton Reynolds (1-3), Garret Boren (1-4), Sonny Boren (2-4) and Rielly Birch (0-5) rounded out the M-CHS grapplers.<\/p>\n

Mancos<\/p>\n

The Mancos Blue Jays began their season at the Moab Invitational.<\/p>\n

The Blue Jays finished 10th as a team and were led by senior Drew Morgan and junior Richard Martinez.<\/p>\n

Morgan finished in second place in the 160-pound class with a 4-1 record and his only loss coming in an 11-7 decision in the championship match, and Martinez took third, also finishing with a 4-1 record and winning the 120- pound third place match by tech fall (16-1).<\/p>\n

Austin Howerton (3-2) placed sixth, Ricky Lobato (3-2) was seventh, Nick Valez (4-3) and Everett Strazza-Whalen (2-3) finished 10th and Jake Skinner (0-5) was 16th.<\/p>\n

Dove Creek<\/p>\n

The Dove Creek Bulldogs also competed in the Moab Invitational, finishing three spots ahead of Mancos in the team standings in seventh.<\/p>\n

Senior Case Baughman led the Bulldogs with a first place finish in the 132-pound divison and a perfect 5-0 record.<\/p>\n

Rhett Quackenbush\u2019s sole loss came in the championship match of the 120-pound class, finishing second with a 4-1 record.<\/p>\n

Ricky Adams\u2019 3-2 record was good for fourth place in the 170-pound division, and Logan Myers finished 1-4 and 14th at 126 pounds.<\/p>\n

Dolores<\/p>\n

The Dolores Bears opened at the Flagstaff Tournament, featuring 17 teams from three bordering states.<\/p>\n

With only seven wrestlers, the Bears were just 2-6 as a team in duals, but they did have individual success.<\/p>\n

Gage Reynolds was 9-1 on the weekend and took first place in the 160-pound class, and Brandon Ward finished 8-2 and second place of the 113-pound class.<\/p>\n

Austin Hackney did not qualify for the tournament, but at 132-pounds, he went 5-3 in duals.<\/p>\n

Josh Petrow, Aiden Hopcia and David Schmittel all went 2-6, and Skieler Grooms was 2-3 before having to pull out of the second day due to illness.<\/p>\n
