Effective Jan. 1, the ownership transfer was officially approved by the Mancos town board last week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the main goals for us is to keep The Columbine, The Columbine,\u201d said new co-owner Tammy Davison. \u201cIt\u2019s a wonderful and historic bar that has been a gathering spot for locals and visitors for more than 100 years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Davison, one of the six previous owners, said she joined with Trejo and Duran to purchase a larger percentage of the business. She and Trejo have been residents of Mancos since 2007, and Duran has lived in Mancos since 1980. All three are natives of Arizona.<\/p>\n<p>With more than 20 years of professional experience managing bars and taverns, Davison explained that meeting interesting people was the best industry perk.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love talking football with customers,\u201d said the Green Bay Packers fan.<\/p>\n<p>Although a painted sign hanging from wooden rafters dates the saloon to 1903, a plaque bestowed by The Clampers on the exterior of the brick fa\u00e7ade indicates the Columbine was established in 1910.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the seven-year gap in the saloon\u2019s founding date, there are no qualms about the notoriety of The Columbine, including the murder of a former owner by his estranged wife.
