{"id":106619,"date":"2016-02-18T18:38:16","date_gmt":"2016-02-19T01:38:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/swim-season-ends-at-state\/"},"modified":"2016-02-18T18:38:16","modified_gmt":"2016-02-19T01:38:16","slug":"swim-season-ends-at-state","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/swim-season-ends-at-state\/","title":{"rendered":"Swim season ends at state"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><!-- gallery:e2db511d-93a5-4354-bc83-9f3fd54dd8bf --><\/p>\n<p>The Montezuma-Cortez Lady Panthers wrapped up their 2015-2016 season last week at the Colorado state swim and dive championships.<\/p>\n<p>The Panthers qualified for three events and competed at Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center in Thornton on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Junior Sam Bagge qualified in both the 50 yard freestyle and 100 yard freestyle by placing third and fourth respectively at the regional meet.<\/p>\n<p>At state, Bagge finished 23rd in the 50 yard freestyle (26.15) and 33rd in the 100 yard freestyle (58.41).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe didn\u2019t beat her best time,\u201d said head coach Gayle Earley. \u201cBut she swam well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earley also noted that Bagge is still a junior, so she has big plans for next year in her senior season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHer goal for next year is to make finals at state,\u201d said Earley.<\/p>\n<p>Bagge also competed in M-CHS\u2019 only other event, the 200 yard freestyle relay.<\/p>\n<p>Joining her were Jenna Barner, Shundiin Kauffman and Kayla Hageman, and together they finished 30th (1:50.79).<\/p>\n<p>But after coming down with illness, Earley was very pleased with how they performed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cConsidering that they were unhealthy \u2013 they all got respiratory colds \u2013 they swam okay,\u201d she explained. \u201cThe poor things were so sick, but they did well and almost hit the time they were aiming for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earley said that the team finished the season strong \u2013 and after qualifying swimmers to state for the second consecutive year \u2013 the Lady Panthers will look to keep the streak alive next season.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Panthers finish season with second consecutive state appearance<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":106620,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[5770],"tags":[21],"naviga_topic":[],"class_list":["post-106619","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-high-school-sports","tag-cortez"],"acf":[],"author_name":"dh_admin","_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/106619","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=106619"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/106619\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/106620"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=106619"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=106619"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=106619"},{"taxonomy":"naviga_topic","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/naviga_topic?post=106619"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
