The sister of a woman fatally stabbed Feb. 8 at a residence on the Ute Mountain Ute reservation has been arrested and charged with murder.<\/p>\n
The Federal Bureau of Investigation has charged Jaycene Littledeer Colorow, 18, with first-degree murder of her sister Keisha Colorow, 19.<\/p>\n
Keisha Colorow died from stab wounds suffered in the early morning hours of Feb. 8 at 935 Lafayette St. in Towaoc, Colorado.<\/p>\n
According to a federal affidavit, the sisters, both members of the Ute Mountain Ute tribe, had been drinking. A witness stated they were fighting over \u201ca stupid cell phone.\u201d<\/p>\n
When dispatched to the residence, BIA police discovered Keisha Colorow in a bedroom with a stab wound to the chest and leg and a bloody knife lying nearby. She was transported to Southwest Memorial Hospital and pronounced dead.<\/p>\n
Police reports show the residence had evidence that a fight had occurred, such as tipped furniture,<\/p>\n
A witness stated he \u201csaw Jaycene standing over Keisha with a knife in her hands,\u201d then she left the residence when police arrived, according to the affidavit.<\/p>\n
Jaycene Colorow returned to the residence about 3 a.m., the police report said, and was arrested for intoxication and jailed.<\/p>\n
On Feb. 12, she was charged with first-degree murder in Indian Country and is in federal custody, according to the U.S. Attorney\u2019s office. The penalty for the 1st degree charge, if convicted, is life in federal prison, and or a fine of up to $250,000.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
