{"id":106491,"date":"2016-02-25T22:48:11","date_gmt":"2016-02-26T05:48:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/sister-arrested-in-fatal-towaoc-stabbing\/"},"modified":"2016-02-25T22:48:11","modified_gmt":"2016-02-26T05:48:11","slug":"sister-arrested-in-fatal-towaoc-stabbing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/sister-arrested-in-fatal-towaoc-stabbing\/","title":{"rendered":"Sister arrested in fatal Towaoc stabbing"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The sister of a woman fatally stabbed Feb. 8 at a residence on the Ute Mountain Ute reservation has been arrested and charged with murder.<\/p>\n<p>The Federal Bureau of Investigation has charged Jaycene Littledeer Colorow, 18, with first-degree murder of her sister Keisha Colorow, 19.<\/p>\n<p>Keisha Colorow died from stab wounds suffered in the early morning hours of Feb. 8 at 935 Lafayette St. in Towaoc, Colorado.<\/p>\n<p>According to a federal affidavit, the sisters, both members of the Ute Mountain Ute tribe, had been drinking. A witness stated they were fighting over \u201ca stupid cell phone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When dispatched to the residence, BIA police discovered Keisha Colorow in a bedroom with a stab wound to the chest and leg and a bloody knife lying nearby. She was transported to Southwest Memorial Hospital and pronounced dead.<\/p>\n<p>Police reports show the residence had evidence that a fight had occurred, such as tipped furniture,<\/p>\n<p>A witness stated he \u201csaw Jaycene standing over Keisha with a knife in her hands,\u201d then she left the residence when police arrived, according to the affidavit.<\/p>\n<p>Jaycene Colorow returned to the residence about 3 a.m., the police report said, and was arrested for intoxication and jailed.<\/p>\n<p>On Feb. 12, she was charged with first-degree murder in Indian Country and is in federal custody, according to the U.S. Attorney\u2019s office.
