{"id":106150,"date":"2016-03-21T15:40:08","date_gmt":"2016-03-21T21:40:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/pinon-project-awarded-grant-for-family-resource-center\/"},"modified":"2016-03-21T15:40:08","modified_gmt":"2016-03-21T21:40:08","slug":"pinon-project-awarded-grant-for-family-resource-center","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/pinon-project-awarded-grant-for-family-resource-center\/","title":{"rendered":"Pinon Project awarded grant for Family Resource Center"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Colorado Department of Human Services has awarded a Family Support Services grant to The Pi\u00f1on Project to enhance services at the nonprofit center in Cortez.<\/p>\n<p>The Pi\u00f1on Project was one of 10 Family Resource Centers in Colorado to receive funds from the grant.<\/p>\n<p>The Family Resource Center program was established in 1993 by Colorado\u2019s 59th General Assembly through Senate Bill 131.  The centers serve vulnerable families, individuals and youths by providing one-on-one assistance to assess a family\u2019s strengths and needs. Family advocates help families develop goals and action plans to increase their self-reliance and provide support, referrals, and encouragement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFamily Resource Centers are important community partners, offering multiple programs that help keep children and families safe and strong,\u201d said Mary Anne Snyder, director of Human Services office of early childhood. \u201cThis funding enriches the long standing public-private partnership that family resource centers exemplify. As families attain their goals and thrive, communities become stronger as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Pi\u00f1on Project Family Resource Center is a nonprofit that originated in 1994 as a result of a community grassroots effort under the Healthy Communities Initiative.
