The bill would add the option to wear fluorescent, or \u201cblaze,\u201d pink.<\/p>\n<p>The House backed the bill Tuesday 58-5. It had passed the Senate, and went to Gov. John Hickenlooper for his signature.<\/p>\n<p>The bill\u2019s sponsor in the Senate, Kerry Donovan of Vail, framed the legislation as a means to attract women to the sport of hunting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery hunting season I saw my brothers fit in, and I did not,\u201d Donovan said of her bill when it was in a Senate committee. \u201cThe message was clear that hunting was for men, and it\u2019s something that only men should do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But in the House, Rep. Daneya Esgar, D-Pueblo, who co-sponsored the bill, said her motivation was about safety.<\/p>\n<p>Supporters were bolstered by a Wisconsin study that found that bright pink is just as visible as bright orange to humans, if not more so.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not a hunter, but when it comes to gun safety, hunter safety, the more we can keep people safe, the better,\u201d Esgar said following the vote.<\/p>\n<p>Female hunters said they found the bill to be \u201cridiculous\u201d and \u201ccondescending.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kirstie Pike, president and chief executive of Pr\u00f3is Hunting and Field Apparel, which specializes in field apparel for women, said her business likely won\u2019t benefit from the legislation, because pink would be allowed for hunting only in Colorado and Wisconsin.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cPink is hot right now, said Cole Hyson, owner of Colorado Trading Co., pink guns, camo, knives, bows, arrows and accessories.
