{"id":106041,"date":"2016-03-24T21:14:46","date_gmt":"2016-03-25T03:14:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/m-chs-splits-tennis-matches\/"},"modified":"2016-03-24T21:14:46","modified_gmt":"2016-03-25T03:14:46","slug":"m-chs-splits-tennis-matches","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/m-chs-splits-tennis-matches\/","title":{"rendered":"M-CHS splits tennis matches"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Montezuma-Cortez girls\u2019 tennis team split contests with Fruita Monument and Cedaredge last weekend to move to 2-3 on the season.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday in Fruita, the Lady Panthers were nearly swept, falling 6-1 to the Wildcats.<\/p>\n<p>Number three singles player Laurel Chappell provided the bright spot for the Panthers, defeating Mia Maynard, 6-4, 7-5.<\/p>\n<p>Number one singles player Raquel Lucero dropped her first match of the season, 2-6, 0-6 and No. 2 Skye Cole fell 3-6, 0-6.<\/p>\n<p>The Wildcats swept the doubles matches.<\/p>\n<p>Ashley Moore and Kristin Pierce fell, 0-6, 0-6; Angel Veach and Andria Battle lost, 0-6, 1-6; Jennifer Sturman and Courtney Kocourek dropped their contest, 0-6, 1-6 and Kayla Hageman and Aubre Rice fell, 0-6, 0-6.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think against Fruita, we could\u2019ve played better,\u201d said head coach Catherine Anliker. \u201cThey were a really tough team, but I don\u2019t think we played to the best of our ability in that one.
