I know, you\u2019re into Kindle and electronic devices, but someday you are going to miss sitting by the fireside, curled up in that comfy old rocker, holding your lovely old book, with its ragged cover and your kids\u2019 jam stains on the pages.<\/p>\n
Remember when you read it to the family over the breakfast table? Don\u2019t let those beautiful books go out of style. The Mancos Library is having its annual book sale on Saturday, April 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.<\/p>\n
The library is packed with old, and gently read books at a reduced rate, so do go and maybe you\u2019ll find some special family memories. You\u2019ll be glad you did.<\/p>\n
Leslie Hopkins has been the Mancos Parks and Rec director for the past nine years. She\u2019s been responsible for all the town\u2019s flower beds, had numerous sports and games for the kids, supervised Mancos Days, the Rudolph Run, Festival of Trees and all the other park activities. She has worked hard to keep us happy. But she is leaving us to be closer to her family.<\/p>\n
There will be a farewell party for her at Town Hall on Wednesday, April 6. Please come to thank her for all she has done, and wish her well. She will be sorely missed.<\/p>\n
The Mancos Chamber of Commerce meeting meets at the Mancos Visitot Center on Thursday, April 7, and everyone is welcome.<\/p>\n
Remember, we are looking for a few good men \u2013 or women\u2013 to bring on board.<\/p>\n
Have you met our new veterinarian, Dr. Bruce Byrd? Here\u2019s your chance.<\/p>\n
The clinic is holding a rabies clinic on Saturday April 9, from 9 a.m. to noon.<\/p>\n
Rabies shots are at the greatly reduced price of $10.<\/p>\n
And didn\u2019t I tell you he was neat?<\/p>\n
The annual 9Health Fair will be held on Saturday, April 16, from 7:30-11:30 a.m. at the Mancos middle school (behind the administration building and middle school).<\/p>\n
The staff wants to remind everyone that while some of the screenings will be free, there will be a small charge for the blood screenings.<\/p>\n
And just a note: The Mancos Lions Club has been doing the Health Fair here for more than 30 years! Next time you go to a Lions Club fundraiser, remember that all your money goes for college scholarships, visual care and glasses here in Mancos.<\/p>\n
There\u2019s a new business coming to town!<\/p>\n
The grand opening of \u201cFAD\u201d is planned for April 30. Live music, entertainment, food and lots of fun are promised. Save the date.<\/p>\n
And if you can figure out \u201cFAD\u201d there may be a small surprise for you.<\/p>\n
