Skiing and snowboarding will continue at Purgatory Resort through mid-April on a weekends-only basis.<\/span>Durango Herald file<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>

Durango skiers and snowboarders should hold off on packing away their gear for at least a few more weeks.<\/p>\n

With the snow still falling, Purgatory Resort<\/a> announced it will extend its 50th anniversary ski season into mid-April.<\/p>\n

Sunday is the last day of the ski area\u2019s daily operations, and Purgatory will suspend operations during the following week. However, the resort will reopen Friday, April 8, through Sunday, April 10, and again April 16-17.<\/p>\n

Purgatory weekday passes are valid on Saturdays and Sundays now through the end of the season. Discounted lift tickets are also available at the ticket office. Information on lifts and open terrain for weekend only operations will be announced closer to those dates.<\/p>\n

Saturday will be Purgatory\u2019s final big event of the season with the Angels and Demons Party, sponsored by Ska Brewing<\/a>. Events and activities for the day include games on the beach, a concert by New Mexico\u2019s top ska band Casual Fridays and a costume parade with an attempt to set a World Record on the slopes, and more.<\/p>\n

Purgatory has received 222 inches of snow so far this season, 75 inches more than all of last season, and the snow was still falling Thursday afternoon. Purgatory said it has received six inches of snow this week.<\/p>\n
