A new aroma-therapy store has opened in downtown Cortez at 37 E. Main St.<\/p>\n

Eclectic Aromas LLC offers essential oils and accessories, free consultations on their benefits and ionic detoxification foot baths.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wanted to bring something new to town,\u201d said owner Brittny Weir. \u201cI\u2019ve been working with essential oils for many years and have a background in health care.\u201d<\/p>\n

The store sells three types of diffusers \u2013 a type of humidifier used to disperse essential oils aromatically.<\/p>\n

The foot baths work to cleanse the body of toxins, said Weir, by producing negative ions that neutralize positive ions through pores in the foot.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019ve been very popular,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The store also has bath salts and aroma therapy candles, soaps, necklaces, plus local artwork. A line of herbal salves will arrive soon.<\/p>\n

There are many benefits to aroma therapy, including helping to ease headaches, congestion, upset stomach, cramps and muscle soreness.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are a lot of positive benefits beyond the scent,\u201d Weir said. \u201cI offer free, in-depth consultations where people can come in and learn about the specific benefits of each oil with no pressure to buy.\u201d<\/p>\n
