Kayla Maynard has opened the shop at 40 E. Main St., offering items for newborns through preschool-age children.<\/p>\n

She said she got tired of driving to other cities to shop for those things when she was expecting her kids.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was no local place for that, so I wanted to give something to the community,\u201d Maynard said.<\/p>\n

Little Loves is offering handmade gift items such as bottles, bibs, cloths, head bows and books. Local artists and crafters are making the items, Maynard said.<\/p>\n

She\u2019s also selling specialty boutique items from Connected By A Thread and crochet hooks from Off The Hook, Maynard said.<\/p>\n

The store fills a niche that previously was empty in Cortez, Maynard said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI saw a need, and I wanted to meet it,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
