{"id":103055,"date":"2017-10-25T18:16:14","date_gmt":"2017-10-26T00:16:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/fashion-show-benefits-cancer-alliance\/"},"modified":"2017-10-25T18:16:14","modified_gmt":"2017-10-26T00:16:14","slug":"fashion-show-benefits-cancer-alliance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/fashion-show-benefits-cancer-alliance\/","title":{"rendered":"Fashion Show benefits Cancer Alliance"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><!-- gallery:0a92037f-7c15-4972-ba97-4de2ce400cf5 --><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video wp-block-embed-youtube naviga-video-embed\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/wXYDzxDZqLA\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Love on a Hanger hosted its seventh annual \u201cPretty in Pink\u201d fashion show on Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. at the Four Seasons Greenhouse and Nursery.<\/p>\n<p>The fashion show donated 100 percent of the proceeds to the Cancer Resource Alliance, formerly known as the Women\u2019s Cancer Coalition.<\/p>\n<p>The Cancer Resource Alliance is a nonprofit organization that provides financial assistance to residents of Montezuma and Dolores counties with a recent cancer diagnosis, according to a news release from Tiffani Waters, owner of Love on a Hanger. Waters also is president of the Cancer Resource Alliance, according to the nonprofit\u2019s secretary and founding member, Sue Tompkins.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe event has grown into something that I never imagined it would seven years ago,\u201d Waters said in a news release. \u201cEach year, I am continually in awe of how gracious and giving our community is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The fashion show featured fall and winter fashions as well as a pop-up shop.<\/p>\n<p>The event hosted silent and live auctions, dance performance, hair and makeup tutorials, and complimentary dessert and a cash bar.<\/p>\n<p>Cortez local Katie Meyer has been attending the event for a few years and said it keeps getting better.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI keep coming back because it is a great cause, it is for an amazing thing for the community,\u201d Meyer said. \u201cIt is for a great cause and it is a good time and it is fun.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The event started small in 2011, growing from 50 attendees to 250 in 2016.
