{"id":102571,"date":"2017-12-05T19:59:15","date_gmt":"2017-12-06T02:59:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/pony-expresso-closes-after-five-years-in-dolores\/"},"modified":"2017-12-05T19:59:15","modified_gmt":"2017-12-06T02:59:15","slug":"pony-expresso-closes-after-five-years-in-dolores","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/pony-expresso-closes-after-five-years-in-dolores\/","title":{"rendered":"Pony Expresso closes after five years in Dolores"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><!-- gallery:4e0f8d47-461b-40df-8e2e-84dc136d00af --><\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, The Pony Expresso, a popular coffee shop on Railroad Avenue, closed its doors after five years in business.<\/p>\n<p>Owner Teresa Howell said closing the shop was a hard decision, but she wants to spend time on other pursuits.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ll miss my customers, the kids from the high school, and being involved in the community,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s a sad day. It was a successful business.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She has not decided on whether to put the business up for sale.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Pony\u201d was famous for its specialty coffees, baked goods, burritos, soups and sandwiches, all homemade by Howell. The shop held annual Halloween Parties for the kids, and was always decked out for Christmas, winning the local decoration contest.<\/p>\n<p>In 2015, the coffee shop was named Business of the Year by the Dolores Chamber of Commerce.<\/p>\n<p>Howell said she will stay in the area and continue her work as a bookkeeper and wildlife photographer.
