The defense team for Mark Redwine, the man accused of killing his son, asked the court for more time to examine thousands of pages of police reports and other documents in the case that garnered nationwide attention.<\/p>\n
Redwine, 55, is suspected of killing his 13-year-old son, Dylan Redwine, in November 2012. A grand jury issued an indictment earlier this year accusing him of second-degree murder and child abuse resulting in death.<\/p>\n
He faces 16 to 48 years in prison if convicted on either count.<\/p>\n
Redwine wore an orange jail-issued jumpsuit Thursday morning during a status conference. It was his first appearance in court in 96 days. He sat next to his public defenders, Justin Bogan and John Moran, and did not speak.<\/p>\n
Dylan\u2019s mother, Elaine Hall, and Dylan\u2019s older brother, Cory Redwine, sat behind the prosecutors on the right side of the courtroom gallery. They were joined by many other friends and family members.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe continue to pore through what took the state of Colorado 4\u00bd years to put together,\u201d Moran told the court.<\/p>\n
District Court Judge Jeffrey Wilson scheduled Redwine for a second status conference on April 13.<\/p>\n
