The woodwind quintet WindSync, a young ensemble that mixes familiar classical music and lighter tunes with a captivating stage presence, will perform on Friday, Feb. 9, at the Montezuma-Cortez High School auditorium.<\/p>\n

WindSync broadens appeal of the woodwind quintet to reach a wide audience. The quintet is composed of players on the flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and French horn.<\/p>\n

WindSync will play Feb. 9 at the Ralph E. Vavak Memorial Auditorium at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n

WindSync is internationally recognized for dramatic and engaging interpretations of classical music. A winner of the 2012 Concert Artists Guild International Competition, the ensemble focuses on building a connection with audiences through adventurous programming and charismatic stage presence. The five virtuoso players perform from memory and specialize in creative concerts that inspire and entertain audiences of all ages.<\/p>\n

Its program has a distinctly American flavor, featuring masterworks written for wind quintet \u2013 including Samuel Barber\u2019s \u201cSummer Music\u201d \u2013 and its own transcriptions of uniquely American music like Aaron Copland\u2019s \u201cVariations on Simple Gifts,\u201d Leonard Bernstein\u2019s \u201cOverture to Candide,\u201d George Gershwin\u2019s \u201cSummertime,\u201d and Maurice Ravel\u2019s \u201cBolero.\u201d<\/p>\n
