The Cortez Fire Protection District will hold an election for its board of directors on May 8.<\/p>\n

Friday morning, administrators held a drawing to decide the name placement of the candidates on the ballot.<\/p>\n

The Cortez Fire Protection District is a special Colorado district and is governed by an elected board of directors.<\/p>\n

Elections are held every other year, following the first Monday in May.<\/p>\n

The 2018 election will be held May 8. Polling will take place at the fire station at 30 Ash St. from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.<\/p>\n

The district has six candidates running for three open seats on the board of directors.<\/p>\n

The two incumbents are Sherri Wright and Buck Woodman. Additional candidates are Jim Bridgewater, Bradley Lynn Ray, Jan Nelson and Les Rogers.<\/p>\n

Bridgewater has served on the board before, but not since 2014.<\/p>\n

One seat up for re-election is held by board secretary and treasurer Kent Lindsay, who is term-limited and cannot run again. He has served for eight years.<\/p>\n

The names to appear on the ballot were chosen Friday morning in the following order: Sherri Wright, Jan Nelson, Bradly Lynn Ray, James Bridgewater, Buck Woodman and Les Rogers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
