Democrats Diane Mitsch Bush and Karl Hanlon will appear on the June primary election ballot in a race for Colorado\u2019s 3rd Congressional District.<\/p>\n

Mitsch Bush, a state legislator from Steamboat Springs, will face off against Hanlon, a Glenwood Springs city attorney, on June 26.<\/p>\n

Democrats said Mitsch Bush garnered 194 votes, or about 57 percent of the 343 delegates\u2019 votes. Hanlon, Mitsch Bush\u2019s challenger, received 142 total votes, or about 41.4 percent.<\/p>\n

Another Democrat, Durango resident Root Routledge, received 2 percent of the total votes, falling short of the 30 percent that is required to advance to the primary ballot.<\/p>\n

Colorado\u2019s 3rd Congressional District, which includes La Plata County, is predominately rural and includes 29 counties over 54,000 square miles.<\/p>\n

The winner of the Democrats\u2019 3rd Congressional District primary will face Rep. Scott Tipton, R-Cortez, in November\u2019s general election.<\/p>\n

In 2016, Tipton won re-election by about 15 percentage points in a race against former state Sen. Gail Schwartz.<\/p>\n
