Students at Manaugh Elementary School helped break ground on an apple orchard in March 2017.<\/span>The Journal file<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>

Manaugh Elementary School will host a Cinco de Mayo fun run on May 5 at 10 a.m. to raise money for a new playground.<\/p>\n

According to assistant principal Whitney Stewart, the school wants to update the playground for the neighborhood as well as for the school.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are really excited about bringing in some new equipment, not just to create a play space for kids, but also a more appropriate running and walking path out there,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She said the playground is beyond repair.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese structures are so old now that we can\u2019t just add onto it; we have to pull it out of the ground. And it is getting worse and worse every year,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The school also will feature carnival games and food after the race at the school.<\/p>\n

Tickets are $5 each and $15 for groups of three or more. They are available at Manaugh or at the event.<\/p>\n
