Those interested in learning more about 4-H will have the opportunity to do so at IFA’s Tour De 4-H on Saturday, Sept. 28.

Along with live animals for youths to view, the event will include tables of activities that allow them to see if they are interested in that particular area of 4-H.

Last year was the event’s first year, and some of the activities students could try were leather making and a casting competition with the sport fishing leader.

“It’s different activities to see if people are interested in 4-H,” said Tierney Wilson, Montezuma CSU 4-H Youth Development Extension Agent. “We’ll have animals that people can come and check out, we’ll have some projects and have some clubs leaders to see what their favorite part of 4-H is and all of that.”

Participants also have the chance to win prizes.

“They’ll have a little passport that they’ll take to all the tables, and they’ll get a stamp on it,” Wilson said. “Once they’ve gotten all six stamps and they visited six different places, they’ll bring that stamp to the award table and they’ll get to spin a wheel for a prize.”

Wilson shared that after last year’s event, the 4-H Club grew by 35 members.

This year’s 4-H enrollment date is Oct. 1.

“It’s kind of a kick off to enrollment activity, and we’re excited to get to know new members,” Wilson said.
