“Both the sixth and seventh grades had a strong showing, and we will be sending seven students on to the (Colorado) State Science Fair contest in April,” said science teacher Kristen Schurr.

Awards are as follows:

Seventh grade

McKenzy Howerton and Jordan Elder: first place in team division, qualified for state.

Paige Featherman and Madison Lankford: second place in team division, qualified for state.

Allison Alvarez: second place in plant science; qualified for state.

Dara Suckla: honorable mention in plant science.

Wade Charles: special award in energy and transportation.

Sixth grade

Justin Brunner: first place in physics; a runner-up for the Da Vinci Special Award; qualified for state.

Keegan Spurlock: second place in physics.

Kevin Purkat: third place in physics.

Hayden Tallmadge: first place in math science; NES Special Award.

Chance Wilbur: first place in environmental science; NES Special Award.

Camden Malloy: second place in plant science; qualified for state.
