The Region 9 Economic Development District of SW Colorado Inc. has received additional funds and a grant extension from the Economic Development Administration to continue development efforts in San Juan County.
This additional EDA investment of $51,300 will support Region 9 with expanding the duties of the disaster recovery coordinator to develop a resiliency plan for existing businesses and identify opportunities for economic diversification in Silverton, program administrator Terry Blair-Burton said in a news release.
“The funding initially intended to help the community navigate Superfund status in the wake of the Gold King Mine spill, was extended to assist with the low snow winter and recent 416 Fire further impacting tourism and outdoor recreation,” Blair-Burton said.
