The Sluyters, Frits and Marianne and their four children, 15 year old twin daughters, Eirin and Karin, and two sons, Torben, 13, and Sven, 10, all plan to work in the store, making it a family affair. They are originally from Holland coming to the States and living in Los Angeles, Calif., for the past 16 years. Sluyter was born in Indonesia.
They have been spending their vacations at the Circle K Ranch above Dolores for the past several years and decided they liked it so much they would like to live here. They have purchased the Roy Tibbets property above Dolores and are living in Cortez while the house is being remodeled. They plan on moving in a few weeks. Sluyter said they plan on living here, working here and being a part of the community. He also said that they had never met so many nice people in their 16 years in California as they had since coming to Dolores.
The only change they plan in the store will be the name, which has been changed to Central mercantile. Ruby Jones and Harry Rash will remain as employees and the line of merchandise and groceries will be the same.
