The Montezuma County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5231 Auxiliary recently donated $450 toward the Cortez Elks Lodge’s food pantry, which assists veterans in need. The veterans pantry provides free backpacks of non-perishable food items to local veterans. The program has been going for five years, and the Dolores Food Market offers discounted prices to stock the pantry. From left are VFW Auxiliary members Taryin Hight and Crystal Oveson, Elks member Kerry Mayhew, VFW Auxiliary member Corena Hampton, Elks Member Karen Silliman, Dolores Food Market onwers Linnea Vass, and Taz Vass.
