A member of the Navajo Hopi Honor Run received a blessing Thursday as the riders arrived in Towaoc. The group of 150 to 200 riders, brought together to support the military service personnel past and present, is riding with a message that “Freedom Is Not Free.” The Navajo Hopi honor riders will ride for four days, covering more than 1,000 miles. The annual run was started in 2003 to honor Spc. Lori Ann Piestewa, KIA 2003 Operation Iraqi Freedom. This is their third year riding to Towaoc. The opening prayer was by Thomas House, followed by an honor flag song sung by The Shining Mountain drum group.
