Colorado Department of Transportation advises motorists to expect delays along U.S. Highway 160 on Mancos Hill for the rest of this week while maintenance crews repair slopes and clear mudslide debris.

The crews will rapidly work along a 1-mile stretch between mile points 62 and 63, but the maintenance operations are weather dependent and could carry on for the rest of October.

According to a news release, flaggers and one-lane alternating traffic are expected between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Motorists should prepare added travel time by allowing an extra 15 to 20 minutes.

Additional road repair will also be held on U.S. 160 in Durango between mile points 81 and 91. These crews will patch potholes along U.S. 160 and South Camino Del Rio, beginning at the intersection of Wildcat Canyon (County Road 141) and eastward toward Elmore’s Corner.

Lane shifts and speed reductions in Durango are expected between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Drivers need to slow down to 40 mph and be cautious when approaching and driving through the work zones.

Full stops and delays could occur while flaggers guide motorists.

The following tips are to help you stay safe while traveling through maintenance and construction work zones. Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits. Stay alert. Expect the unexpected. Watch for workers. Drive with caution. Don’t change lanes unnecessarily. Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones. Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you. Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones. Expect delays, especially during peak travel times. Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you. Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
