The Lamp Post Creative Learning Center will present the over-the-top comedy melodrama “Peril on the High Seas” in mid-April, featuring a cast of local adults, many of whom appeared in previous productions of “Matilda” and “Arsenic and Old Lace.”

Performances are scheduled for April 17, 18, 24 and 25 at 7 p.m., with matinees at 2 p.m. April 18 and 25. Nicholaus and Corinne Sandner said the show is set aboard a 1920s-era cruise ship and populated with larger-than-life characters evoking the golden age of Hollywood, including flappers, faded starlets, a jazzy femme fatale, a mustached villain, a New York cop and a flirtatious ship captain.

Audience members are encouraged to participate in the performance by booing the villains and cheering for the hero during the interactive production.

Tickets are on sale on Lamp Post’s at lamppostclc.booktix.com. Tickets are $6 to $10 plus fees.

The center, at 32171 U.S. Highway 160 in Cortez, will also host the Four Corners Community Band’s spring concert Wednesday, April 8 at 7 p.m.

Additional upcoming events at the Lamp Post include a Mancos Valley Chorus concert, a CAYAC dance recital and a Story Share event. The Story Share event will feature stories from longtime local residents paired with artwork from area artists. The event is being hosted by a student as part of her master’s program at the University of Colorado Boulder.
