A small porch fire broke out about 3:15 p.m. at a house on the corner of Melrose Street and Montelores Avenue. According to Fire Chief Jeff Vandevoorde, the department was able to put out the fire quickly after a neighbor reported the flames to 911 dispatchers. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
