A handful of Montezuma County citizens gathered at Mancos United Methodist Church Thursday night for a candlelight vigil in support of Eliseo Jurado, the husband of Boulder sanctuary immigrant Ingrid Encalada Latorre. According to a news release from the American Friends Service Committee, Jurado was detained Thursday by Immigration and Customs Enforcement “without warning.” Latorre claimed sanctuary at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Boulder last month to avoid deportation. Rosa Sabido, who is living in sanctuary at the Mancos church, said prayers with church members for Jurado and Latorre’s family.
