Your cautionary editorial “Silencing Gaza’s journalists silences the world” (Herald, Aug. 31) means a lot to the many Americans who have organized, educated, protested and called Congress to end U.S. taxpayer funded military support for Israel. Thank you for giving voice to our concerns.
In addition to the actions you encourage readers to take: calling our senators and representatives (do it daily) and supporting the cultural event and fundraiser for Gaza families, Poetry for Palestine, 5-8 p.m. Sept. 13 at Bread on Eighth Street, there is another way for readers to make a difference.
The United Nations General Assembly – not the U.N. Security Council dominated by the U.S. veto – has the necessary votes to bring a U.N. peace keeping force into Gaza to protect civilians and distribute aid.
