LPEA chose to leave the Tri-State contract on the well-researched advice of its staff and counsel to pursue both more affordability and more renewable energy sources that benefit the local economy.
For instance, the Pine River Irrigation District will get more direct income from LPEA than they ever could from Tri-State. By cutting out the middleman, PRID makes more and LPEA pays less. More money for irrigation infrastructure for the Pine River basin is a win for farmers and ranchers when they need it most.
