Dale Klotz, territory manager for Gallagher Animal Management, makes connections on an electrical fence surrounding beehives in Hermosa during a workshop Wednesday about the use of electrical fences to deter bears. The workshop was sponsored by the Living with Wildlife Advisory Board of La Plata County, Bear Smart Durango and Gallagher on the property of Jack Peterson in Hermosa. Electric fences are not allowed within the Durango city limits according Steve Barkley, the city’s code-enforcement officer.
