Stephanie Sohles, with Clock Repair and Restoration in Durango, explains how the pneumatic clock works to her intern Jesus Ahuatzi, 15, a Big Picture High School student, on Thursday in the lobby of the Durango School District 9-R administration building. The district wants to have the 100-year-old clock in working order when the city of Durango takes possession of the building on May 1. The school district wanted to take the clock that was dedicated in 1921 to its new location in Bodo Industrial Park, but it was determined the clock was too heavy and too fragile to move. In addition to giving the time, the clock also rang the bells between class periods. The public is invited to view the clock and attend the Community Moving Sale and "107 Years of Education" history exhibit from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 13 at the former administrative building at 201 E. 12th St. (Jerry McBride/Durango Herald)
